Collaboration took on a whole new look and meaning for me last evening! I had wondered exactly how Drew and I would accomplish collaborating on the music for our machinima trailer. I had pretty much envisioned that he would have something already created and I would listen to it, give feedback....
In reality it was truly more of a joint effort. Through screen sharing and Skype we listened together to different GarageBand loops, played the video with ideas we agreed on, discussed and tweaked things...and think the end product will enhance our already spectacular machinima movie trailer!
Why this still amazes me after 8 months, I don't know...
With the tools we've been given, collaboration is highly productive, time zones are not an obstacle that can't be overcome, and it is possible to build friendships that include deep conversations as well as lots of laughter (the kind that sends tears streaming down my face)! When we meet for the first time, we'll already know each other extremely well...(there's no hiding who you really are when you work closely together in this program!)
So much I never dreamed of when I began this journey!
That is the best thing about this program is the collaboration! My neighbor is doing her BS through another school and isn't getting any help from the instructors. The only way they can contact their instructor is through email. She said it takes up to 2 days to get a response. She came over the other night in a panic, needing help with math. I was able to find her a tutor, hopefully it works for her, but what a bad experience. Love the EMDTMS program!!!
